- Huor the son of Galdor of the House of Hador weds Rían the daughter of Belegund of the House of Bëor.[1][3]
Midsummer[]
- The Nírnaeth Arnoediad occurs, the fifth great battle in the War of the Great Jewels, where the Elves and Edain plan to overthrow Morgoth but are defeated after being betrayed by the Easterlings led by treacherous sons of Ulfang. Fingon, the High King of the Ñoldor is killed by Gothmog with the help of Lungorthin. Fingon is succeeded by Turgon.[1][2]
- Huor is slain in the Fen of Serech and Húrin is captured by Gothmog along with Gwindor. Deaths of Haldir, Azaghâl (who wounds Glaurung), Gelmir and Hundar. Maglor slays Uldor, and Ulfast and Ulwarth are slain by Bór and his sons, but Borlad, Borlach, and Borthand also perish in the battle alongside their father.[1][2]
- Húrin is subjected to torture within the fortress of Angband. Morgoth curses Húrin and his children.[1][2]
- Brodda begins his lordship of Dor-lómin.

- After she gave birth to Tuor and discovered her husband's death, Rían dies of grief on the Haudh-en-Nirnaeth.[1][3]
- Tuor is fostered by Annael in Mithrim.[4]
