- Morgoth sends an army to attack Hithlum from the east and north.
- Galdor, Lord of Dor-lómin and lord of the House of Hador dies defending Barad Eithel from Morgoth's forces, but Húrin manages to repel them while Fingon battles them on the plains of Hithlum.
- Círdan arrives with a fleet and the Orcs are driven out of Hithlum.
- Húrin succeeds his father, Galdor, as Lord of Dor-lómin and leader of the House of Hador.
