Wi Kuki Kaa in Utu (1983)

Wi Kuki Kaa (born December 16, 1938) was an actor who had been initially cast in 1999 to play Ghân-buri-Ghân in Peter Jackson's The Return of the King film, before the character was omitted from the screenplay. He ended up portraying Ghân simply for Decipher's The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game, first released in 2001.

Kaa was a native of northeast New Zealand, born of the Ngāti Porou tribe. His career in cinema lasted fifty years[1]; in February 2006 he died at age 67.
