White-socks was a pony brought by Merry for the Hobbits journey to Rivendell.
White-socks was presented along with the ponies Wise-nose, Swish-tail, Bumpkin, Sharp-ears, and Fatty Lumpkin. Along with the other ponies, White-socks was stabled at The Prancing Pony but was later found to have gone but was later found and brought into the service of Barliman Butterbur. White-socks was given its name by Tom Bombadil.[1][2][3]
