Vëantur was the Númenórean captain of the royal fleet of Tar-Elendil. He was likewise grandfather of Tar-Aldarion. Vëantur was also the commander of the first ship that returned to Middle-earth.

Vëantur was a great Mariner and Navigator, serving as Captain of the King's Ships under Tar-Elendil, the fourth King of Númenor, and the first of the Númenoreans to achieve a voyage back to Middle-earth, in the year SA 600 of the Second Age. His ships' names were Entulessë and Númerrámar, which were docked at a quay attached to his house, located in the southern side of the firth of Rómenna. On his subsequent travels, he became friendly with a man named Anardil, later Tar-Aldarion, who accompanied him to Lindon in SA 725. He had a daughter named Almarian who married Tar-Meneldur, relating him to the royal family.[1][2][3]
