While we all await the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey next year, those Lord of the Rings fans who are also gamers can ease the wait with the following upcoming titles.

The first one is the new expansion for Turbine's The Lord of the Rings Online MMO game, titled "The Rise of Isengard". The expansion will be released on September 27, and will include three new regions, a new raid for up to 24 players, as well as the ability to advance you epic characters as high as to level 75. Here's a bunch of new screenshots:

Meanwhile, Snowblind's Lord of the Rings: War in the North will bring us to the regions described in The Hobbit, but during the War of the Ring itself. While we followed the adventures of the Fellowship of the Ring, the dwarves, elves and humans of Middle-earth's northern regions also struggled against Sauron's forces. The game is set to be the most gritty of the LotR games so far, with exciting co-op multiplayer and lots of ways to customize our characters.

The exact release date of the game is not known yet, but we know it will be released later this year. See the brand new trailer below:
