The following books are in my house:

  • The only authorized paperback version of The Hobbit (with a note from Tolkien on the back asking you not to buy any other version)
  • Probably the first paperback version of the Trilogy, complete with typos
  • A modern paperback version of the Trilogy, without movie pictures, probably without typos, though I haven't looked
  • The Silmarillion
  • The Making of Middle Earth
  • The Book of Unfinished Tales

I have read:

  • The Hobbit three times
  • The Fellowship of the Ring twice, though rereading single chapters probably brings it up to three - and I've read some scenes from Bree to the Council of Elrond up to about 50 times
  • The Two Towers twice, with a few extra at the end of Book 3
  • The Return of the King twice, with extra around the Battle of Pelannor Fields (because Éowyn is amazing), though the appendices only count once because I didn't remember half of them by the second time (I was ten years old the first time, so don't blame me)
  • The Silmarillion twice, though this also doesn't count because I can hardly tell you what happened in it (I was twelve the first time), so I'm working on it a third time
  • Part of The Book of Unfinished Tales
  • Part of The Making of Middle Earth

In general, I don't care about the films, but I have seen the Fellowship of the Ring movie twice.
