Torvin was a hunter Dwarf who assisted the ranger Talion in his quest to find the Black Hand of Sauron, in the Third Age. He also played a role in the destruction of the Gorthaur by selling blasting powder to Hirgon's rebels.
He does not appear in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and was invented for the video game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel.
In adaptations[]
Torvin lived in Núrn with his brother, with whom he would hunt giant creatures, such caragors and graugs. It was on a hunt such as this that Torvin's brother was slain by the Graug Matriarch.
Some time afterwards, Torvin encountered the ranger Talion, and taught him how to ride on caragors, and how to slay or tame Graugs. Torvin convinced Talion for hunt the Graug Matriarch. Though Torvin was left stunned for much of the fight, Talion killed the beast.
Torvin later journeyed to Lithlad, where he assisted Baranor in taking the citadel of Shindrâm.
