The Timeless Halls were the place where Eru Iluvatar lived.
In J.R.R. Tolkien's depiction of them, they are similar to the concept of a 'Heaven' in that they existed outside the boundaries of the created universe and did not have physical form. It is unknown whether the Halls were the final destination of souls of Men, as not even Manwë was certain of their fate after death.
History[]
The Music of the Ainur was composed here, as described in the Ainulindalë, before the creation of the world. The Halls were also the home of the Ainur that chose not to descend into Eä, and instead chose to remain with Eru.[1]
