Tilion (Quenya Tengwar: 1TjT`N5; IPA: [ˈtili.on]; 'the Horned')[1] was the youth whom the Valar chose from among the Maiar to steer the island of the Moon. He was a lover of silver, and used a silver bow. In the days of the trees in Valinor, Tilion had been a hunter from the company of Oromë, but in his free time often came to Lorien, to the pools of Estë. Because he rested often there, under the light of Telperion, he came to love it and begged to be given the care of its last flower. He was said to be less mighty than Arien, the Maia chosen to guide the Sun.
