There Would Always Be a Fairy Tale: More Essays on Tolkien is the latest authored work by eminent scholar Verlyn Flieger. Published in December 2017 by The Kent State University Press, it studies "myth, truth, manners, and morals" in the Middle-earth legendarium of J.R.R. Tolkien, and aspects from its textual history to its "microparticles", says Flieger. As in her other works, Flieger examines the idea of faërie throughout. The Story of Kullervo and Smith of Wootton Major, though outside the legendarium, are engaged with as well.
