"The Man in the Moon Came Down Too Soon" is a poem written by J.R.R. Tolkien included in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil and Other Verses from the Red Book, after it was heavily changed.[1]
First stanza[]
The Man in the Moon had a silver shoon
And his beard was of silver thread;
He was girt with pale gold inaureoled
With gold about his head
Clad in a silken robe in his great white globe
He opened an ivory door
With a crystal key, and in secrecy
He stole o'er a shadowy floor;
