The Making of Middle-earth: The Worlds of Tolkien and The Lord of the Rings by Christopher Snyder is an illustrated exploration of J.R.R. Tolkien's life and impact, and the development of his legendarium of Arda. It addresses Tolkien's own life, some external influences and the reception of Tolkien's works, Tolkien-media such as adaptations, and "Tolkieniana" (Tolkien's impact and Middle-earth fandom).
It was first released in 2013 before a revised edition, with new art, was published in August 2022.
