When a show/movie, on the whole, is "adapted from" a work of an author, we say that because it a transferral (or, conversion) of the basic skeleton of the author's story from one art-medium (book) into another (cinema). The Jackson movies do this, essentially, so they're an adaptation "altogether". This is much bigger a transferral than just picking out some bits & pieces, for a 90%-new story. Tag: Undo
