Taruithorn, The Oxford Tolkien Society is a Smial of the international Tolkien Society. It is based at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England.
History[]
Taruithorn was founded by Sarah (Sturch) Wells of the Tolkien Society in 1990 with many of the founding members being members of The Oxford Arthurian Society. The society seems to be both a literary group and a social group usually meeting during term on a Thursday and Friday at 8:00pm in Lecture Room 2, of Christ Church College. The society has its own constitution and a range of ranks and titles. Every summer since 1992, the society goes on a holiday trip to various locations throughout the country.
Membership is limited to students of Oxford University. The society publishes its own magazine known as Mirovur on a irregular basis.
