So what name DOES this place have in the Elvish languages? The article says that it was called Anadûnë in the mannish language, so Númenor must be an Elvish name - and it's of Quenya origin, but not Quenya. So it's Sindarin? In Lord of the Rings, all Dúnedain refer to it as Númenor and not Westernesse (it is only called Westernesse by Frodo and the narrator). So without knowing the language, but considering that other men in Minas Tirith have a favour for Elvish names like Perian for Halfling, this is a save guess for me.

But then why does the article also say that this place is called Andor by the elves? What language is that name, and from what time period is it? I'm confused. - Comartinb 18:30, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Source???

The following passage of this article made me think on the sources used here. Se for your self and make a judgement.

Coincedence on "Atalantë"Edit[]

"Atalante" was the name of Numenor after it fell into the Belegaer, making it a Downfallen island. And what is the name of the Greek city that fell into the Mediterranean sea somewhere a long time ago? "Atlantis", a downfallen city, which of course would have been an island.

Since when it has been proven that Atlantis was a greek city? Yllbardh (talk) 23:08, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

  • I was going to erase the whole section but as it may have been used as influence, I decided to keep it, but modified it nonetheless (though I've kept the terminology of "downfallen island", whatever the editor meant with that). See if it pleases you now. Winterz (talk) 00:19, February 26, 2013 (UTC)
