Halfling[]

i ask in talk section if halfling means "half" like mixed breed? if so which races is hobbit half of? or maybe the description in chapter one "hobbit half height" is the meaning of halfling? TisdaleFan123456789 (talk) 20:39, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

No, "halfling" does not refer to breed, it just refers to their size being (metaphorically) "half of a man's". Kumagoro42 (talk) 01:44, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Plural[]

Then I suggest making things like Orc and Goblin plural as well.--Nognix 09:58, January 25, 2012 (UTC) ==reply== you correctly pointed to the inconsistent and hobbit should be singular like those. TisdaleFan123456789 (talk) 20:07, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

Hobbits small description[]

Hobbits are a race of small humanoid people. They have large hairy feet, so differ from the race of Dwarves. This race earned admiration respect, in middle-earth by helping dwarves by the lonely mountain and by destroying the evil ring (the lord of the rings) earned respect. the most famous hobbits were mr bilbo baggins and Frodo of bag-end.

Middle-aged at 50[]

The article states "a 50-year-old Hobbit would only be middle-aged". This doesn't seem right, since "middle-aged" is applied to a 50-year-old man or woman in real life. I think who wrote this was thinking of "being halfway through one's expected lifespan", which is not the current meaning of "middle-aged". Kumagoro42 (talk) 01:44, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

Swedish translation[]

Currently the Translation table only contains the older translations from 1947 and 1962. From the re-translation realeased in 2004, the term "hobbit" is used.
