Is there such a thing as a winged cold drake? I thought it was Cold-drake, Uruloki, and winged uruloki.
Dragon size and the Gates of Angband
This has been on my mind ever since the Dragons article was being edited and new one was created. It also delayed my reading and research for the article on the Gates of Angband I was about to create. The dragons of Angband were enormous in size and the ones used during the War of Wrath were even larger, and then there's Ancalagon. Here is the MAIN question. How in the name of heaven could creatures of such SIZE and GETTING BIGGER GET THROUGH the Gates of Angband? Ancalagon was probably the LARGEST living creature in the whole of Tolkien Mythology. Ancalagon was a living creature locked into one form only and as so could NOT change shape like a true Ainu that has not been weakened like Morgoth. Could this be a big plot hole or is there something I don't know about yet? I'm NOT suggesting anything be changed. I just want to talk about it so as to encourage discussion and thinking. Servants of whom?
The Dragons served Morgoth not Sauron. After Morgoth's defeat, they seemed to serve themselves only.--DarkLantern (talk) 17:07, December 18, 2014 (UTC)
In Lord of the Rings Online, several more named Dragons besides Smaug the Golden and Draigoch the Red have been added:
- Thorog the Mighty, a dead Dragon in the Misty Mountains re-animated by the Gaunt-lord Drugoth the Black.
- Fingar the Greedy, a wingless Worm who ate one of the Dwarf-Rings (named Manthrif by LOTRO).
- Hrímil Frost-heart, a mighty, winged female Cold-drake from the First Age who fought for Morgoth.
- Her son, Vethúg Wintermind, named as the Cold-drake who slew the Dwarf-kings Dain and Fror.
- Smaug's sister, a small but deadly poisonous Fire-drake named Etterfang Foulmaw.

Delete origin speculation?
The fan-speculation about the origin of dragon borders on fanfiction. While assumption have cited sources (of questionable quality), the whole section reads like non-canon. One of the talking point even introduces real-world mentions of dinosaurs and megafauna Xkcd1BeretGuy (talk) 09:56, March 1, 2020 (UTC)
