Merry gets a sword in the first book, loses it, gets it back, then uses it on the Witch-King. Is that also true in the movies?

This website's article for the Barrow-blades says that in the film trilogy, Merry never gets that sword back after he loses it, and Théoden gives him a new sword, which is what he uses on the Witch-King.

I'm not sure that's right. That information was added by an unregistered account in 2010, which made few edits, and hasn't edited since then. I think he was misinterpreting the movies. It's true that the movies never show Merry getting the sword back, but I think he got it back offscreen. Théoden gives him new armor, but I don't think he gives him a sword. Merry already had a sword when he pledged his service to King Théoden (at 1:08 into the extended edition of disc 1 of Return of the King), before he got the new armor (at 1:36).

Unless there are any objections, I'm going to delete that note. - Endgame091834 (talk) 14:34, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
