I would like to point out that Éomer also could be an Old English form of "Irmin" as it is found in compounds like "Irminsûl", or even the name of the Germanic hero Arminius/Hermann/Irmin. I don't have access to the sources used by Tolkien and exposed in the etymology section, but to me, as the Rohirrin are so influenced by the historical Anglo-Saxons, it seems most likely that the major influence comes from Arminius/Irmin. 45.227.136.2 01:22, August 21, 2018 (UTC)
