Stock as depicted in The Lord of the Rings Online
Stock was a town located in the Eastfarthing of the Shire, near the Brandywine River, between the Great East Road and Bucklebury Ferry.[1]
History[]
The town was the location of the Golden Perch Inn. Like the peoples of the Marish, the people of Stock and Rushey were very friendly with the Bucklanders and acknowledged the authority of the Master of the Hall.[citation needed] Some of the hobbits living there were members of the Maggot and Puddifoot families.
During Frodo and Company's journey to Rivendell, Frodo wanted to pass through the Woody End on their way to Crickhollow, but Pippin rebutted, saying that "shortcuts make long delays", and then mentioned that he wanted to pass through Stock to have some of their famous beer. Frodo then declared the matter settled.[2]
