Stephen Regelous is a visual effects engineer in New Zealand who created the Massive simulation program, which was used to make the largest battle-scenes in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings films. In 2004, he received an Academy Award for his work. He also during this time founded the computer graphics company Massive Software.
In 1996, Regelous had worked with Peter Jackson for his film The Freighteners, as technical director.
