Simon Backès is a European director and editor based in Brussels, Belgium. Since the 1990's he has worked on or produced a dozen documentaries and short films.
In 2014, Backès directed J.R.R.Tolkien, des mots, des mondes ("J.R.R. Tolkien: The Words, The Worlds"), a 52-minute French documentary about J.R.R. Tolkien's life and Middle-earth, distributed by Arte France.
