"He's dead. Took a little tumble off the cliff."
Sharku mocking Legolas and Gimli with the apparent death of Aragorn.

Sharku was the veteran Orc from Isengard leading Saruman's Warg-Riders. He only appears in the film adaptation of The Two Towers.

Sharkutoppic

Sharku during the attack on Rohan.

Saruman's nickname Sharkey was stated in a footnote to be a corruption of the word 'sharku'. While Sharku is not a Uruk jockey, it is unclear if all of his Orcs are, or just most of them. He may have had an elite group of normal, but experienced, Orcs, along with the larger jockey group.

In the 2nd film, Sharku is sent by Saruman with a large group of Isengard Orcs on Wargs to attack the people of Rohan who are trying to reach the fortress of Helm's Deep. Aragorn has a short struggle with Sharku on his warg, where, as Sharku tries to knock him off the Warg, Sharku is stabbed in the chest by Aragorn's Elven knife. The Warg, in an attempt to throw Aragorn off, gallops towards the ledge of a cliff. Sharku then falls off his Warg and is trampled. Aragorn becomes stuck to the Warg's saddle and tumbles to his supposed death. Unable to find Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli threaten a dying Sharku who reveals Aragorn's fate before expiring. (The Two Towers (film))

Sharku BFMEII

Sharku in The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II.

Sharku appears in The Two Towers video game and in The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. He is also a hero in the game Battle for Middle-earth II for the Isengard faction.

Shown in the Top Trumps card game, Sharku is said to have been 5,000 years old and a veteran of the Goblin Wars. However, as it was necessary to fabricate characteristics and back stories for use in the game, this should not be taken as canon information. In the film version of The Two Towers, the actor who portrays Sharku is Peter Jackson's good friend Jed Brophy.

Etymology

"Sharku" is Black Speech for "Old Man".[2]
