The Lord of the Rings Online - Old Guesthouse

The Old Guesthouse in The Lord of the Rings Online

Sennas Iaur,[1] the Old Guesthouse, was the main[2] inn of the city of Minas Tirith which lay in the first tier, directly[2] behind the Othram, near the Great Gate of the City on the Rath Celerdain.[3]

History[]

Sennas Iaur was a large building made of grey stone that had become weathered with age. It consisted of two wings with a narrow greensward that stood between them, and a small house with many windows and pillared porch with a flight of steps leading down to a grass yard which surrounded the inn on three sides. Many soldiers of Minas Tirith were to be found there.[3]

In the year 3019 of the late Third Age, the Hobbit Peregrin Took visited Sennas Iaur and met Bergil after Beregond went on guard duty.[3]

Sennas Iaur may have been damaged during the Siege of Gondor,[4] though its ultimate fate is untold.[3]

Etymology[]

Sennas Iaur is a name in the Númenórean Sindarin dialect of Sindarin in Gondor.[1] It likely is a compound of the words sennas ("guesthouse") and iaur ("old").[5]
