Randall William Cook (sometimes Randy Cook) was an animation designer and supervisor for Wētā Workshop and Wētā Digital in the production of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Ringsfilms. He has also acted occasionally.
From 1977 to 2003, Cook worked as an animator or visual effects personnel in many series and films such as Ghostbusters and Poltergeist II.
In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), Cook acted the cave troll in Balin's tomb, with a process he explains in an Extended Edition feature.[1] He also (with Peter Jackson and Grant Major) explains there the uses of forced perspective and duplicate scales of characters and props. His work in Jackson's films was his last major contribution to cinema.
