Peter Chernin (born May 29, 1951) is an American businessman and media executive who chairs The Chernin Group and, as of 2011, produces films such as the Planet of the Apes reboot series and Red Sparrow. He has formerly acted as head of Twentieth Century Fox' Filmed Entertainment division and Fox Broadcasting Company, after beginning his global business career as president of News Corporation.
Between 2013 and 2017, Chernin began producing the biographical film Tolkien (starring Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins) with Kris Thykier and others. It was released on May 10, 2019 by Chernin Entertainment, a division of his company, and Searchlight Pictures.
