Otto Preminger (1905 - 1986) was an Austrian-born film director and actor. He directed a number of novel-to-film and stage-to-film adaptations, some of which were controversial. He died on April 23, 1986, at the age of seventy-nine.

He provided the voice of the Elvenking in the 1977 animated film The Hobbit.
