Ostirith was a watchtower in the eastern foothills of the Ephel Dúath in the Second Age, before the land became barren under Sauron's influence. It was used by the Silvan Elves to watch over the settlements of Tirharad and Hordern.
Etymology[]
The name Ostirith appears to come from the Sindarin words ost, meaning "fortress", and tirith, meaning "guard".
Behind the scenes[]
This location was invented for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and as such is non-canonical. The name Ostirith was first revealed on a map in a promotional video on August 17, 2022.[1]
