Ontamo was a Man of Númenor in the Second Age.

Biography[]

He was engaged to be wed to Mairen, and was a friend of Isildur and Valandil, with whom he undertook the training to become part of Númenor's Sea Guard. Isildur's heart was not in the endeavor, however, and desiring to go instead to further the cause of the Faithful, he purposefully made a mistake underway. He indeed was dismissed by the Sail Master, though Ontamo and Valandil were dismissed also. Ontamo was heartbroken, and Valandil furious with Isildur.

Shortly thereafter, Queen Regent Míriel announced that Númenor would send 500 men to the Southlands to confront Adar and rescue the beleaguered Men there, and Ontamo volunteered, as did Valandil and Isildur. Upon arriving at Tirharad, Ontamo took part in fighting the Orcs, though he was weary of violence by the end. When Orodruin erupted soon afterwards through the designs of Adar, Ontamo was caught inside a house when fiery projectiles rained down and collapsed the structure, killing him.

Behind the scenes[]

Ontamo's character was invented for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and as such is non-canonical. He is portrayed by Anthony Crum.
