Olivier Simonnet is a French documentarian who specializes in recording concerts, opera productions, and Medieval dramatizations. He began making documentaries in 1997, and since 2005 has produced at least fifteen TV miniseries and featurettes, such as Un automne musical à Versailles (2005) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: La Flûte enchantée/The Magic Flute (2013).
In 2014, Simonnet directed À la recherche du Hobbit ("Looking for the Hobbit"), a five-episode mini-series about mythological influences on J.R.R. Tolkien's literature. It features renowned Tolkien-artist John Howe, who tours New Zealand and parts of Europe, and Medieval specialist Leo Carruthers.
