Nalir (Objective Ally) - LOTR The Card Game

Biography[]

Nalir is found in a old Tavern, The Empty Mug, in Tharbad. On questioning Nalir tells the player's heroes that he has map to Ost-in-Edhil which shows a secret chamber to Celebrimbor's forge, where the Rings of Power (except The One) where created. Nalir tells the heroes that he had already sold the map to a mysterious man named Bellach, but could give it to heroes for a higher price. After giving all of the gold from Saruman's purse to the Dwarf, Nalir stretches out to give the map to the heroes. However, as that is happening Bellach comes in and sees Nalir about the give away the map he bought. Bellach, comsumed with anger, lets out a loud whistle that calls in bloodthirsty Orcs to seize the Dwarf and the map. In the chaos the heroes manage to save Nalir, but half of the map gets ripped and taken by Bellach's Orcs.

To escape from Bellech and his Orcs the heroes have no choice but to cross the vast marshland of the Swanfleet. Nalir protests on cross the stinking bogs, but as the screams of the Orcs grew louder behinded him, he soon quickly changed his mind. After survivng the many horrors of the marshes, the heroes and Nalir make it to Eregion, but only to find Bellach and his Orcs there first; already at work destroying and desecrating the ruins of Ost-in-Edhil in order to find the secret chamber. Nalir, even after some persuasion from the heroes, downright refuses to go any further in fear of the many Orcs ahead. He does however give the heroes some insight on where the secret chamber is located and what the door looks like. After that Nalir quickly slinks off to a unknown fate.

Nalir's armor is only that of Dwarven quality leather and cloth. He does not seem to have any weapons on him (unless perchance a hidden dagger in his coat).

Card usage[]

In the card game Nalir is largely associated with defending due to his defense. Nalir's willpower of 0 is very weak for him to be used for questing regularly. His attack value of 1 is weak for him to be used as an attacker regularly, unless he can be buffed. Nalir's defense of 2 is good enough to use him as a defender, but his health of 3 does not last very long against many enemies.
