"The door won't give. It's too strong!"
Murgash to Gothmog, before Grond is used against the Gate of Minas Tirith

Murgash was a Black Uruk captain or lieutenant serving under Gothmog during the Siege of Gondor.

He is a non-canonical character, invented for Peter Jackson's films.

Portrayal in adaptations

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Murgash was first seen witnessing Gothmog kill Madril, at the end of the Orcs' successful last invasion of Osgiliath. Later, he stood by Gothmog and Guritz as they fired the heads of the deceased soldiers of Gondor killed in Osgiliath into Minas Tirith.

In the extended edition of the film, he appears alongside Guritz at the gates of Minas Tirith, where he tells Gothmog that the gates are impenetrable - though Gothmog then rectifies this dilemma by using the "Wolf's Head", which is Grond. Murgash is later seen with Guritz and his battalion at the docks (the harlond), mocking the Corsairs of Umbar, who apparently are late for battle. Their sarcasm turned to terror when Aragorn and his two companions and the Army of the Dead swarmed off the ships and charged the Orcs head-on. Despite the obvious futility of even attempting to fight back, Murgash lunged at Aragorn with a sword, only to have his head sliced off.

Murgash was portrayed by Sala Baker.
