Morwë, along with Nurwë, refused the summons of the Valar to Aman.

Biography[]

Upon discovering the awakening of the Elves in Cuiviénen, the Vala Oromë traveled back to Valinor to bring news. When Oromë returned to the Elves, he invited them. Ingwë, Finwë, and Elwë served as their ambassadors. The ambassadors returned three years later to persuade the other Elves to come to Aman. Morwë and Nurwë refused the summons, leading the Avari in Cuiviénen.[1]

Etymology[]

The Quenya mor means ("black") and the suffix -wë occurs in many names, though not exclusively masculine.[2]
