Middle-earth Online, known also as MEO, was a planned massively-multiplayer online game licensed by Sierra On-Line in 1998,[1] initially developed by Yosemite Entertainment,[1] and eventually finished by by Turbine[2] that never released under the initial name, but was renamed to The Lord of the Rings Online in 2005 and eventually released in 2007.[1]
