Mbair Annui,[1] the West-lands,[2] was a term used in relation to the north-western region of Middle-earth between the river Carnen and Belegaer, though sometimes it was used to refer to Eriador.[3][4]
History[]
The Teleri halted there for a time near a "Great River" during their initial journey westward.[5]
Etymology[]
Mbair Annui is a name in Sindarin meaning "Westlands", consisting of mbair ("lands"),[6] a variation of bâr ("dwelling;[7] house, home"),[8] and annui ("west").[1][6]
