
Matthew Dickerson, Ph.D. is an American writer, environmentalist, and fantasy enthusiast who had professed environmental studies and computer science at Middlebury College in Vermont. He writes fiction, creative non-fiction, and literary criticism engaging with C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Harry Potter, and has contributed essays for many journals and magazines ranging from literary study to fly fishing.
He contributed to Paul E. Kerry and Sandra Miesel's essay collection Light Beyond All Shadow: Religious Experience in Tolkien's Work, published in 2011.
In March 2022, Dickerson gave a lecture at a New York C.S. Lewis Society event, titled "Art, Mortality, and the Fall in the Writings of J.R.R. Tolkien".
