Marigold Brandyfoot was a Harfoot hobbit in the Second Age who dwelt in Rhovanion. She was the second wife of Largo Brandyfoot, and stepmother to Elanor and Dilly Brandyfoot.[1]

Biography[]

Marigold was a member of the nomadic village led by Sadoc Burrows, and kept a protective eye on her step-daughters. When Elanor discovers the mysterious Stranger and unintentionally leads him back to the village, causing the family to be put last in the migration caravan, Marigold is upset, but allows the Stranger to help them by pulling the family's cart. The village travels east from Norfield Glen to the Grove, where the Stranger heals the damaged orchard but nearly harms Elanor and Dilly in the process, leading him to leave so not to endanger the Harfoots.

After the Dweller and her two fellows mystics burn the village's carts and are seen to be pursuing the Stranger, Marigold goes with Sadoc, Elanor, and Poppy to warn him. Though the mystics have found him first, much of the Stranger's memory is restored, and he in turn rescues the Harfoots by disintegrating the mystics. Afterwards, Marigold agrees with Largo that Elanor should travel with the Stranger into the east, perceiving Elanor's destiny is to explore the wider world.

Behind the scenes[]

Marigold was created for the TV series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and is thus non-canonical. She is portrayed by Sara Zwangobani.
