"Lord of Dale" was the title of the ruler of the sovereign town of Dale before its fall to Smaug in TA 2770.
Its only known holder was Girion who perished in the destruction of the town.[1] Girion's noble descendent Bard did not renew the title instead being known as a 'King'.[2]
The title was most likely hereditary.
