Lithlad was an ashen plain of Mordor, south of the Ered Lithui and east of the plateau of Gorgoroth.[1]

Portrayal in adaptations

Lithlad is a playable region in The Desolation of Mordor expansion pack to Middle-earth: Shadow of War. In the game, it is said that Númenóreans once had dominion over Lithlad during the Second Age, populated as a far off part of their empire. Being one of many remote locations they visited, many lost artifacts and ancient ruins remained there from their time.

The region is described in the game to have become ideal for dry-land farming due to long ages of continuous fallout from Mount Doom, which enriched the region with large amounts of ash.

Etymology

Lithlad is a Sindarin word for 'ash-plain'.[2]
