Letter 98 is the ninety-eighth letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Summary[]

This letter was written to Stanley Unwin about Tolkien's tale 'Leaf by Niggle', which was published in the Dublin Review. Unwin's eldest son David – the children's author 'David Severn' – had read the story. David praised it to his father, calling it an "exquisite piece of work," and recommended it be compiled with other Tolkien short stories and put in a book. [1]
