Letter 16 is the sixteenth letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Summary[]

This letter was written to Tolkien's son Michael at boarding school. Tolkien consoled his child about not yet being on the school rugby group, relating how he too was at first rejected for being too light however "chosen to compensate for weight by (genuine) fierceness", and wound up on the group and with hues. He additionally urged Michael to watch his more youthful brother Christopher.
