Lake Mithrim was a great lake in the land of Mithrim in Hithlum.
History[]
Lake Mithrim was where, in the second year of the sun, the Ñoldor first dwelt in Middle-earth: the Sons of Fëanor on the northern shore and Fingolfin's host on the southern shore.[1]
It was fed by three streams coming from the Ered Wethrin.[2]
Etymology[]
The Sindarin word Mithrim consists of mith meaning 'grey' and rim meaning 'folk'.[3]
