The One Wiki to Rule Them All
This page is a proposed policy on the One Wiki to Rule them All. Except for minor edits, please make use of the discussion page to propose changes and improvements to this policy.

In the case of recently released books, films, television series, or other forms of media, any significant information regarding the content of a particular production is commonly referred to as a spoiler to those who wish to view it and have not yet done so.

For the purposes of the One Wiki to Rule Them All, a spoiler is defined as any information (text, images, or otherwise) which describes or details what happens within a given production and goes beyond details revealed in official promotional releases. Thus, trailers, TV spots, posters, publisher descriptions, and official social media posts prior to the production's release are not considered as containing spoilers.

Maintenance

If an article is updated to include spoilers, {{Template:SpoilerWarning}} must be placed at the head of the article. Unless agreed upon otherwise, the warning will be left until 30 days have passed since the production's most recent release date (i.e. if a film is last released in Australia, a week later than it was in the United States, the warning will be left until 30 days have passed since Australia's release date).

In the case of video games, since many who intend to play a particular game may not be able to start and/or complete the story within a given period following its release, alternate measures will be taken. While articles about places or characters unique to a given game will follow the same rules as other media, since those seeking to avoid spoilers will know to avoid them, articles which only contain spoilers in a particular section will be denoted with {{Template:Spoiler}} and {{Template:Endspoiler}}, placed before and after the section, respectively. These warnings will be left until 5 years have elapsed since the game's release.
