This is the task and proposal page for renaming or merging categories and their content.
Changing categories is more complicated than handling pages: to truly rename one, its contents must be transferred manually to a category bearing the new name, and to delete one, the category reference on every article/file/category it contained must be removed, and the category-page itself deleted.
One can explore the One Wiki to Rule Them All's full tree of categories of subject matter (as opposed to administrative and policy pages, etc.) by starting at the root category Category:Browse.
Docket of tasks[]
Administrators will edit this section.
- Combine Category:Images from Battle for Middle-earth II (video game) and Category:Images from Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king (video game) into Images from BFME II and The Rise of the Witch-king.
- Since The Rise of the Witch-king is not equivalent to a third game in its addition and changes of content, but is merely an expansion, this level of distinction is not necessary in image categories.
- Rename categories whose name has a capitalized noun that should be lowercase (with the exceptions of Real World, Real People, and Cast & Crew), or an unaccented vowel that should be accented.
- Change categories named "Images by..." into "Art by..." - specifically those found in Category:Art of Tolkien Mythology.
Proposals[]
To propose that a category be simply deleted, without replacement, do so at LOTR:Articles for deletion.
Cities of the Shire renaming[]
I propose that the Cities of the Shire category be renamed to Settlements of the Shire. Given that the Shire has no cities it's an absurd label. Gondorian2012 (talk) 09:15, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
Completions[]
- Renamed Forests and Woods to Forests and woods
- Renamed Elven Cities to Elven cities and Dwarven Kingdoms to Dwarven kingdoms
- Category:Numenoreans changed to Category:Númenóreans
- Category:Cities of the Shire changed to Category:Settlements of the Shire
