The King's Court, called also the Courts of the King, was the principal court of the Kings of Númenor in the capital city of Armenelos.[1][2]
History[]
Nimloth, the White Tree of Númenor, grew in the courtyard. In the days of Sauron's influence over the mighty King Ar-Pharazôn, the King's Court was forbidden to the Faithful on the orders of Sauron. Hearing that Sauron was urging the king to cut down the tree, Isildur, son of Elendil went to Armenelos in disguise and stole fruit from the tree. However, the guards realized what was being done and as a result Isildur had to fight his way out of the Court, successfully returning home but badly wounded. After this, Ar-Pharazôn yielded to the demands of Sauron and finally had the tree cut down.[3]
