Karen Wynn Fonstad (born April 18, 1945 - died March 11, 2005) was an American author and cartographer. She was the author of The Atlas of Middle-earth.
In addition to The Atlas of Middle-earth, Fonstad wrote several atlases to other fictional universes. She received a degree in cartography from the University of Oklahoma.
