Julius Caesar Bass (September 19, 1935 – October 25, 2022) was an American director, composer, and the founder of the Rankin/Bass production company with fellow producer Arthur Rankin Jr..
He and Arthur Rankin both directed and produced The Hobbit (1977) and The Return of the King (1980).
