Jerry VanderStelt before 2013

Jerry VanderStelt is a painter known for his licensed art based on The Lord of the Rings films, as well as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. Working currently with New Line Cinema, his Middle-earth art includes large posters of locations such as Rivendell, Bag End, and Mordor, group-displays of the main characters of each Lord of the Rings film, and solo portraits of Gandalf, Aragorn, Sauron, Durin's Bane, Arwen, Frodo Baggins, and other characters, as they are seen in the films.

Some of his art is sold through Wētā Workshop.[1] On an interview with Nerd of the Rings in February 2023, he revealed a new piece portraying the dragon Smaug, based on The Hobbit films.[2] This had been a long collaboration with Wētā, complementing a Weta Workshop sculpture of Smaug made by Gary Hunt.[3]

VanderStelt's love for fantasy was sparked by J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium and the Narnia works of Tolkien's friend, C.S. Lewis.[4]
