Jason Fisher is an American writer and literary reviewer known for compiling Tolkien and the Study of His Sources in 2010 - 2011. He runs a personal website of blogs and research, "Lingwë - Musings of a Fish".
Fisher does independent research and writes studies on J.R.R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, the Inklings, many other authors such as Neil Gaiman, and comparative mythology. A prolific lecturer on Tolkien, he has given talks at universities, Inkling Conferences, and Mythopoeic Society Conferences, having served many positions in the Mythopoeic Society since 2007 such as vice president, conference committee chair and publications editor, and board member of their press. He oversaw their monthly journal Mythprint for four years.
For five consecutive years, Fisher was awarded Best Scholar Paper at the Annual C.S. Lewis and Inklings Conference from 2010 to 2014. He has contributed dozens of essays to scholarly compilations and periodicals such as J.R.R. Tolkien Encyclopedia: Scholarship and Critical Assessment (2006), Tolkien and Modernity 1 (2006) of the Cormarë Series, The Silmarillion: Thirty Years On (2007), Tolkien in the New Century: Essays in Honor of Tom Shippey (2014), Middle-earth and Beyond (2011), Bradford Lee Eden's Middle-earth Minstrel (2010), Tolkien Studies, Mythprint, and Mythlore.
Tolkien and the Study of His Sources won Fisher the Mythpoeic Award for Inkling Studies in 2014.[1]
Fisher resides in Washington, U.S.A., and lived previously in Texas.
